Shibil Siddiqi is an experienced litigator and workplace investigator whose practice focuses on employment and labour law, human rights and Charter litigation, and administrative law. He represents employees, progressive employers, and non-profit organizations and is regularly retained to conduct independent workplace investigations.

Shibil has represented clients before all levels of court in Ontario, as well as the Federal Court and the Supreme Court of Canada. His practice includes appeals and applications for judicial review. He also regularly appears before administrative tribunals, including the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Canada Industrial Relations Board, and the Landlord and Tenant Board.

Shibil’s broader human rights work has included helping to establish a legal aid clinic in Kabul, Afghanistan, in partnership with the International Development Law Organization. He has also held fellowships at the Gordon Foundation and Trent University’s Centre for the Critical Study of Global Power and Politics.

Shibil earned his LL.B. from the University of Warwick and his LL.M. in International Human Rights Law from the University of Toronto. He frequently speaks at continuing professional development programs on employment, labour, and human rights law. He also serves on the Law Society of Ontario’s Equity Advisory Group.

Sana Hayat is a paralegal associate who represents clients in residential tenancy disputes, human rights matters, and employment claims. She appears before the Landlord and Tenant Board, the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, and Small Claims Court.

Alongside her own practice, Sana works closely with the firm’s lawyers on complex litigation and tribunal matters, providing legal research, case management, and hearing preparation. Before joining Progressive Barristers, Sana worked at a boutique personal injury law firm, where she developed experience in client advocacy and case preparation.

Sana earned her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Women and Gender Studies from the University of Toronto and her Paralegal Diploma from Seneca College. She also holds advanced certifications in Project Management and Alternative Dispute Resolution.

Nicoleta is an experienced litigation law clerk whose work spans employment law, civil litigation, and administrative law. She coordinates client intake and communications and helps ensure that matters are organized and advanced efficiently.
